Karmapa and Gyuto Monks

After visiting Norblingka we decided to visit again the main temple and monastery of the Karmapa. we entered the temple shown below and were in time to listen to and see hundreds of monks chanting and doing their routine – blowing horns, cymbals, handgestures, bell ringing etc. suddenly it ended and all the monks filed out, slipped on their shoes/sandals and headed down the front stairs. we were still soaking up the experience when the long horns sounded again and all the monks started filing back into the main temple. I guess it was a bathroom break!  just like highschool – there were the few monks running up the stairs, flinging off their shoes and slipping in just as the next session began.
